North Florida Romantic Beach Engagement

A North Florida Romantic Beach Engagement…It wasn’t until the day of the session that I figured out an optimal location for Tarryn + Bryan’s photoshoot. It has been 2 months since the Hurricane Matthew came through central Florida and caused a little bit of havoc. A lot of the parks in the area still show signs of damage, limbs down and closures. Even our beaches are recovering from erosion from the king tides, and consistent north east winds after the storm. I thought of one location that would be difficult to erode, this beach right here located near Marineland, with the coquina filled beach. The wind was whipping and made for some awesome dramatic photographs for their engagement session. Tarryn and Bryan braved the cold and wind. I can’t get over how playful and fun this session was. Look at the engagement ring!! They’ve been together for a very long time….Here’s a little bit about Tarryn and Bryan and their amazing story.

Tarryn and Bryan met when they were 13 and became the best of friends. Unbeknownst to Tarryn, in that moment, Bryan had fallen for her the first time he saw her. Tarryn and Bryan remained good friends throughout the years although dating never seemed to work out for them. Either she would be in a relationship when he was single or he would be in a relationship when she as single. Although, they always made a point to text/call on our birthdays and on other holidays. Anyhow, what’s meant to be will always find its way right?! It might’ve take them 18 years but they found their way and couldn’t be happier!

Congrats to Tarryn and Bryan! Cannot wait for your wedding!

Wilbur Boat House Wedding – Chelsea + Jeremy

Wilbur Boat House Wedding – Chelsea + Jeremy

When Chelsea and Jeremy decided to have a Wilbur Boat House wedding it had everything they needed for their intimate ceremony and reception. With the coordination by Lindsay Rachael Events. Every time I come here it is the best for photography and great celebrations. The vintage history of the location and open ceilings are always great to incorporate in spacial photographs. I have photographed approximately 40 weddings at this location alone. Each time it always is great! Chelsea and Jeremy’s wedding had a seaside theme featuring aqua, whites and blush pink. The features that they loved was that it was close to the river and beach to have a quaint island town feeling. It’s on my top places to photograph in the Daytona Beach and Port Orange area. Check out the Wilbur site for more information. Their dock has been complete and offers a clean walk over the marsh/sandbars, it’s a great place to get married 🙂 When a light rain came we decided to head out to the dock and capture some of the lightning and rain with Chelsea and Jeremy! I’m so happy for you guys! Please feel free to share the blog with friends and family!

Hiring a Destination Photographer for your all your event needs!

Hiring a Destination Photographer for out of state/country weddings!

By Jenn Ross

Are you looking for a destination photographer for your wedding? Well, I can explain a little about why people sometimes ask us why we want to be photographers, and I say it usually begins first with a passion for it which then leads the way to brand new experiences. Since I’ve been working with Mark Dickinson I have come to realize that he loves to travel as much as I do. As I’ve mentioned before, photographers at heart are artists who either subconsciously or consciously want to capture moments and freeze them in their existence to live on forever. For me it’s no surprise that the love and will to travel lies within every artist because it gives us a chance to see something new, see things we’ve never seen before so we can create our art that is inspired by these new places.

Travel also presents challenges that are mostly good and never bad. You never lose anything from being presented with a new challenge, at worst you learn. And that’s not really bad is it? Being a photographer, no matter what your market, challenges make you think quickly, make you problem solve and in the end make you a better artist. You grow and learn and see amazing new places while meeting new people.

Exploring and discovering the world around me is what drives me to leave the familiar in exchange for the unknown.  Also the inexperience of shooting in a new location gives you the experience you need to work fast and get the shot you expect to get every time.

So back to travel, before I began working with Mark and his wife Lindsay, they were already doing destination weddings (and I don’t mean the Florida ones, I know, our state is a destination!) in places like Nicaragua, Italy, and the Dominican Republic. I myself travel a lot photographing bands and live music at festivals across the country. I’ve recently been to LA and Sweden doing various photography projects. The most recent festival I went to was Camp Barefoot 9 in West Virginia in the beautiful blue ridge mountains. Yes, for that weekend we lived inside a John Denver tune. I invited Mark along as a guest and he was able to shoot as well, because he also loves music as much as I do! It was fun to get out of our wedding element and still take photos at an event that we could really enjoy. It never feels like work when you’re surrounded by great friends and incredible live music. But that’s not to say a wedding doesn’t feel almost the same! There’s music, and throughout a day you really get to know the Bride and Groom and their friends and family, so in the end you feel like you’re a new part of the family. And in a way, with our photos, we are!

We are now currently looking forward to a wedding in North Carolina followed by an Ohio wedding in the near future. Between these weddings I will be searching for new festivals that will hopefully say yes to us and give us more opportunities to expand our skills and portfolios.

If you’re looking for a destination photographer for your wedding, look no further–hire us!

But we aren’t just wedding photographers, we can cover any event from commercial to senior portraits, engagements, families, music festivals, sports, you name it and we’ve got it covered!

Beach Side Wedding at Hilton | Daytona Beach | Arleigh and Scott

Arleigh + Scott got married outside the Hilton along Daytona Beach. Since they had a sunset beach side wedding, they decided to do a first look and do their formal portraits before the wedding. As the ceremony took place the Daytona lights from the boardwalk and the Ferris wheel lit up the background skyline. The reception followed shortly after with lots of food, dancing, and an amazing cake! We hope you enjoy a sneak peek at their special day, and don’t forget to leave the couple your congratulations and well wishes in the comments below!

Hammock Beach Resort | Kelsea and AJ | Mark Dickinson Photography

Hammock Beach Resort

We love this wonderful fall weather approaching! It makes way for a gorgeous day to be married.  Kelsea and AJ were married at the Hammock Beach Resort. Although it’s starting to feel like fall, the theme of this wedding was bright, bold and lovely. Colors of pinks, purples and off whites were featured. We managed to get an assortment of amazing photographs under the clear blue skies during the day. The evening held way for a special treat shortly after dark;  an amazing star landscape with a glimpse of a galaxy far far away. Even more so than stars that shine bright, we hope these two shining stars have many more wonderful years ahead of them! Congrats to Kelsea and AJ on their wedding.
