Morning wedding at the Casements
Lauren and Chris selected a morning wedding at The Casements due to the scenic nature of the venue located outside, against the water. Located on the shore of the Halifax River, The Casements is known as “The Jewel of Ormond Beach.” When used as his winter home, John D. Rockefeller employed a Swedish landscape designer to develop the gardens to his own specifications. Extensive renovations were done in 2009 to create Rockefeller Gardens. This beautiful area set the perfect backdrop for their wedding. Their theme was simply elegant with coral, lace, and pearls.
Lauren’s “something old” was a charm bracelet Chris gave her when she was 16. For each big event in their lives, he adds another charm.
When asked what her favorite moment was, Lauren answered, “My favorite moment was the first look. I loved having that special moment with just us; and the fact that Chris actually cried. I have only seen him cry maybe 3 times in the whole 8 years we have been dating!”
Not only did Lauren and Chris say their own vows, they also sealed those vows with a pink promise kiss!
Most comical moment? “When Chris couldn’t get his wedding band on during the ceremony. Everyone got a good laugh out of it, including us.”
Although Lauren and Chris used a lot of great vendors to put together their perfect day, some of the decor was DIY! Lauren says, “I put together the centerpieces and favors. We designed, printed and put together our invitations and program fans. I bought all the items to decorate the sign in table and spent a lot of time spray painting things white to match. Although it was stressful at times, I loved the personal touches that made our wedding fit our personalities.” Her words of wisdom for future brides? “Don’t sweat the small stuff! Many of the small things don’t really matter on the day of. Oh and simple is key!”
When selecting the Oceanside Country Club for the reception venue, Lauren says, “I loved how open the ballroom felt with all of the windows. It was perfect for a morning wedding.”
