Fort McCoy Lakeside Engagement

Fort McCoy lakeside engagement: I headed over to Fort McCoy for a lakeside engagement Alyssa and Brandon had their lakeside engagement session at their house in the Ocala area. I started off inside and loved their vintage look! It definitely brought a warm and homey feeling to this particular session. We dared to adventure outside, even in the cold. This was also the first full day of shooting with the new Nikon D850! I wasn’t unfamiliar with the controls but was missing my extra grip as I had on the d4 and Nikon D5 cameras. The dynamic range of the camera was great. The best part of the camera is the shooting speed was clearly fast enough to trail Alyssa and lock focus on her ring while she was walking. One of my favorite elements of this photoshoot is the warmth of the sunset that came through the trees, the dock, and even a private white sand beach behind their lakehouse. Another beautiful sun-kissed shot! The lighting brought some extra life to this picture, while they brought some extra love to the ferns!

The sun was amazing in adding some warmth and shedding some light on the dock just screams awesome!

It really has everything with getting to know the couple I am working with. I generally photograph about 15 engagement sessions without a wedding attached to it. But out of the 45 weddings, we had this year all of those had an engagement session. Every time the experience seems to be so much better! Couples have a better understanding of what to expect and the day goes smoother for the wedding day.

Romantic Backyard Engagement Session | Megan + Andrew

Early December, I had the pleasure of getting to know Megan + Andrew during a romantic backyard engagement session. The warm colors and the light we had that evening was perfect for this session. Although winter had not hit Florida yet, they were in the winter mindset with the campfire and cute and comfy outfits they wore. The warm Central Florida light mixed with the string lights worked out amazing for an engagement session. This engagement photo location is different than anything else you can find in the Daytona Beach areas and that is why I love doing sessions here! North Florida Romantic Beach Engagement

A North Florida Romantic Beach Engagement…It wasn’t until the day of the session that I figured out an optimal location for Tarryn + Bryan’s photoshoot. It has been 2 months since the Hurricane Matthew came through central Florida and caused a little bit of havoc. A lot of the parks in the area still show signs of damage, limbs down and closures. Even our beaches are recovering from erosion from the king tides, and consistent north east winds after the storm. I thought of one location that would be difficult to erode, this beach right here located near Marineland, with the coquina filled beach. The wind was whipping and made for some awesome dramatic photographs for their engagement session. Tarryn and Bryan braved the cold and wind. I can’t get over how playful and fun this session was. Look at the engagement ring!! They’ve been together for a very long time….Here’s a little bit about Tarryn and Bryan and their amazing story.

Tarryn and Bryan met when they were 13 and became the best of friends. Unbeknownst to Tarryn, in that moment, Bryan had fallen for her the first time he saw her. Tarryn and Bryan remained good friends throughout the years although dating never seemed to work out for them. Either she would be in a relationship when he was single or he would be in a relationship when she as single. Although, they always made a point to text/call on our birthdays and on other holidays. Anyhow, what’s meant to be will always find its way right?! It might’ve take them 18 years but they found their way and couldn’t be happier!

Congrats to Tarryn and Bryan! Cannot wait for your wedding!

Port Orange Fl – Central Florida Engagement | Rustic love

When Courtney and Stephen said they wanted somewhere rustic and woodsy for their Central Florida Engagement location, my last few scouted locations were bare, plowed and prepping for a new neighborhood to come in. It in a way makes bittersweet. New homes make way for more people to be part of the community but the loss of nature locations has me saddened. That leads me to end up at this beautiful location below. I can’t be luckier to be in an area like PORT ORANGE as a photographer. It’s centralized between Daytona Beach New Smyrna and the greater Central Florida Areas. Courtney and Stephen are getting married at THE ESTATE ON THE HALIFAX in Port Orange. I love the styling in this photo. I get asked a lot about how to style the session. I generally tell couples that what you feel you look your best in will be your best fit. However, take in consideration your home, decor and location. For this here, Courtney’s coloring and pattern with the red wedges was perfect. I generally recommend on locations like this, a contrasting color to the background, and a complement color to what she is wearing on Stephens style in the first set. Then with the sharper color to stand them out more in the second set it was even better. Pastels, colors, and light accessories work great!
