Photography Tips 2016

Here are some Photography tips 2016 that may help you! Wow, can you believe that 2016 has already hit us and midway through the year you’re probably looking for the upcoming photography tips to help you better yourself for 2016! I went through my cabinets, bags, garage, and wanted to share a few of our helpful tips that make my life easier! Most of the items or ideas you may already have or have access to them easily. These may not be directly related to software, editing, or photography itself, but lifehacks that I use every day to better our lives by automation or indirectly assisting.

Cleaning:

Robots, robots everywhere. Lindsay has had a heavy workload taken off of her when I purchased the robots. I use the irobots. One to sweep, one to vacuum and one to mop. Yes they all work pretty good. The biggest feature is they do take a load off of our cleaning because when we are gone or while we are sleeping we can put them to work in another room. So thankful.

Ones I use: VACUUM 980 Vacuum 790 and Braava

Organizing:

Recently this is one of the hardest things to keep up on. We went to Ikea and bought a hanging file cabinet. I keep all the files in them. It doubles as a desktop for the scanner, cookie jar and key bowl. There are a few options you can go and check out but this one was the sleekest and matched our office hardware. In addition we built a new desk setup with upper and lower cabinets to help flow. They filled up quickly, but surely released a lot of our ugly desks from being bound up in the house.

Workflow:

Photography Tips 2016 Palette Gear Sliders

Lightroom and Photoshop clearly are the best for us, but being introduced to Palette Sliders  was the best ever!  They are a revolutionary new way to edit photos with lightroom and photoshop and a few other programs like in-design etc. Macro keys on the fly with their gui easy to use software. There’s no programming or coding, plug. play. assign. If you decide these are for you, hit up Palette Gear Use code: MDPHOTO it will save you a few bucks!

Life in general:

The best tip in life is free time, a lot of new photographers are hammering out hundreds of shoots a month a super low prices to get their name out or doing free shoots. Stop this! Charge just a bit more, you’re worth more than that and your clients will appreciate a $100.00 product than a $25.00 one put together at $25.00. The fortunate thing is that you’ll get less work hopefully. If you’re not charging such a low price you can work just a little less and provide such a better product with not being overwhelmed with so many shoots. This gives you the ability to focus on each one just a little more. So let yourself have a break. Regroup, rebrand and give everyone a better experience. I’ve been doing this as much as I can with family. Since having a 2 year old it’s been important to do things with her like bike rides and playing.

Re-purposing:

Now for the weirdest tip of them all. Silica Gel Packs What are these? Remember those packs of plastic looking things in shoes or electronic devices? Yes those. Well they are absolutely great for re-pourposing them. I buy damprid a few times to stick in the car to deodorize but I don’t want to do that for my cameras. I have a camera bag sitting on a shelf with a very nice lens in it that I use every once in a while. Well I throw a couple in that bag to absorb any moisture. Now while these are becoming harder to find because of the antimold stickers found in shoe boxes now the easiest place to find them still is in the sporting good section of walmart. Head over to the fanny packs or sleeping back section and you will find them in the bottom of multi item boxes like the nylon bags or flashlights. These get chucked in the garbage and still have a great bit of life in them. If you don’t want to go that route click the link in the beginning and you can get 25 for about 10.00.

You can use them for:

Stoping Camera Condensation

Keep Travel Bag from moisture buildup

Dry Out A Wet Cell Phone

Store with Underwater Cameras to keep dry

Hope you enjoyed the 10 minute tip to get you ready for 2016. Please leave a few comments below to tell me what you did! I’d love to try some new things! Thanks for checking out my  Photography Tips 2016
