Senior Rep Application

Parents! We’re taking applications for your High School Juniors to become our 2012 Senior Reps! What does this mean? We need you to show off our photos! That’s it. How does this work? In the next few weeks we will be selecting one male and one female from each school. Each 2012 senior that is selected will receive a totally free 1 hour sitting!  Each senior rep will receive a 4×5 proof book to show off to their classmates!

To become a 2012 Senior Rep for MDP:

  1. Be outgoing, fun and have a sense of energy with the photos.
  2. Be available to model for a 1 hour photo-shoot (with parents present)
  3. We’ll select the best of the best photos from the session and place them in a nice press book to show off!
  4. Tell your friends and their parents about MDP and show off your proofs!

Each Senior Rep will be part of our loyalty program. For each senior that you refer, you will receive credits towards prints and merchandise, as well as future shoots for your family!

To apply for the Senior Rep, have your parents send your information to mark@markdickinsonphotography.com. Please include two photographs of your senior: One head shot, and one full body shot. It is the most important day of your life, and you are going to want to remember it, whether it is a small private elopement, or a huge ceremony. Make sure you have us there to capture the memories of the day when you say, “I do” to your best friend. Call or e-mail us today to book us for your special day!

Take a photographer with you, Photographer who travels, destination photographer

We get asked this a lot! “Do you travel for weddings”. Absolutely we do travel, while travel heavily affects what we do on the prep side, it is always very fun to be at a wedding in a semi unfamiliar location, the creativity can run wild, and not have the norm of  ’knowing’ where the ‘usual’ shots are, because we come up with our own. The prep starts the rehearsal, we attend the rehearsal and tour the property at the time of your wedding. From that point we note and determine some very fun and artistic locations for the portraits. What are the benefits of having a photographer go with you? Say you live in “Central Florida” and you are traveling to Jamaica, Ochos Rios, Turks, Caicos or Cayman Islands your selection for a photographer should begin at home. You will have a better experience with the photographer since he/she will be local and give you higher customer service than that of a photographer at your destination. The reason is your photographer would travel with you and when you arrive home after the honeymoon you be a bit better in communication and contact with your hometown photographer. You might not want to either call or have the items shipped or posted back home as it could get really expensive and delayed.

Most photographers who travel with you will be by your side the day of for the specified amount of time. Most resort, the all inclusives will have a person there photographing you at an inflated package with deflated features. This goes for Cruise Weddings too, they all do the same type of package. (wedding ceremony coverage and 2 portraits on cd, 1000.00+) While that time is limited to a 30 minute window of ceremony since so many people are coming through doing the destination weddings it seems great but its not a value I appreciate. That’s why when you research a local, add the airfair and courtesy 3 nights of stay you might be better off and also get a lot more features.

This year we did turn away one for Jamaica as I was sad to do so but it had already been booked for a while. When you are asking the photographer if he/she travels, don’t always jump into hey your going on a vacation work. When we did a wedding in Puerto Rico (my family’s home Country), and the turn around that required us back at home the next weekend, we didn’t have time to enjoy the ‘workcation’ so thats always something to take in consideration of your photographer. When we go to the destination weddings theres a few things we do to make sure your images are safe on the way home. We do a upload while on location (usually takes 14hrs), and then duplicate the memory cards, and fed-ex or ups them home. (thats our practice). But other than that it really does work out nice to be able to have a unique setting to the norm of a photographers hometown. Complacency is one of those things that do tend to make the photos feel cookie cutter.

One of my favorite venues for weddings! Tavern and Chapel in the Garden | Central Florida Wedding Photographer

Why? It just is! Have you been there? The garden, tavern and chapel are limitless with different photos. My first wedding there was in 2000, and since then I don’t think that I have ever run out of ideas for photos. It really is a location that you can do a ceremony, and feel like you’re in a different relaxing world by taking a few steps into the garden. There’s a stream that runs through the garden with cute bridges and walkovers that simply offer fun photos with amazing backdrops. Another perfect thing about the tavern is the history for the entire location. The vintageness’, if you will, with the tavern, and with the chapel, cottage, and train car in the front of the venue. The place has it all.

Helping hands at the Tavern and Chapel are beyond what you could ask for. Kellie and Katie since day one of working there have been extraordinarily helpful and professional. Their planning service they offer in addition to the venue is phenomenal. I always recommend hiring a planner 100% simply because it goes smoother! When they do it its like butter. If you haven’t been to one of the open houses to get a full tour of the venue you should! Their next open house is… March 26th from 11am – 2pm!! Check it out! You’ll enjoy the time there with great food and wedding professionals, its like a mini bridal show:)

Ill share some of my favorite photos from the venue below! Enjoy and take a look! Want to get a hold of them?  Here’s their info:
