Piqua Ohio Wedding

When you arrive in Dayton Ohio for a wedding just north in Piqua, everything is eerily familiar… the airport, street signs and the name of the city itself. It’s like Daytona minus the “A”. Danielle + Jim and I first met on a senior photo-session for Danielle’s son Jacob. If you remember, their engagement session it was on the beach here in Port Orange. When they asked me to come up their way to photograph their wedding, I said yes for a few reasons: 1. It’s Danielle and Jim! 2. I have not been to Piqua; Dayton, yes, nut not Piqua. 3. Lastly it would be awesome to see all the family again and of course where this all started: Jamie + Ben!

When traveling for weddings always leave yourself time to arrive and acclimate to the area. You never want to be late or miss a flight. Even when Lindsay schedules the flights at 5am! Exploring the city led me to a few awesome locations that I scouted for the wedding photography. There’s an awesome downtown district, river area, and lots of corn fields. Lots of them! Jenn and I went exploring a couple of nights before the wedding and you can see that blog post here EXPLORING PIQUA. Danielle and Jim’s wedding was a blast! The ceremony took place indoors in the grand room where you can see a lovely chandelier. They entered traditionally but exchanged vows atop the balcony with guests viewing from below.

After the ceremony we were able to sneak them away with the bridal party to take some photos around the downtown area. We were even lucky enough to get some photos on the staircase leading to the library, which was Danielle’s favorite location for photos. Beautiful, bright peacock feathers could be found all around, which she picked to represent a new beginning. These colors popped off everything they adorned! Everyone had such a great time at the reception. Danielle and Jim made their way around to all of the tables before the party got started. However; before that, we got to hear some pretty amazing toasts from great friends and their children.

Many happy tears were falling throughout the day! We were able to take the couple outside for one last set of photos before we were done and it was fun to see all the town beeping horns and cheering for them as we were walking around! Check out some of our favorite photos and leave the couple congratulations in the comments!
